Transitions

This work is about processes in terms of materials: procedures and the principles of making without picturing and patterning with repeat and variability. It is about paint: wet on wet, flat and fixed, thick, thin, smooth, textured…. and colour.

The concept is Memory: the loss of the real and the formation of a variable but legitimate other. As a concept, it is the start of the idea of a continuous painting…. This work was produced for the 2010 exhibition at The Brunei Gallery SOAS London ‘Sanctuary: home, away and the Common Ground (Part 2) ‘. It follows a body of work called ‘My Tree’ and was the beginning of the work ‘Cut Outs’ and ‘Clay’.

Transitions has been exhibited at: The Brunei Gallery SOAS London as part of the collaborative exhibition ‘Sanctuary: Home, Away and The Common Ground (Part 2)’ , The Art Centre Newtonards Northern Ireland as part of a Solo Show ‘Memory and Loss’ , and part of a group exhibition at The Battletown Gallery Newtonards.
