Clay and Plastic

Clay’ was formed out of the desire to engage with the literal landscape. Using the materiality I was walking on, was a way to map the memory of connecting with a different environment that was not my own. The process of making the clay paste was therapeutic and created a sense of nostalgia around the experience of the landscape. Through using cutouts this then formed other ways of recalling the journey. Telling it, through the process of rotation, cutting away and positive and negative applications of the clay and plastics on to the paper.

Clay was formed on residency at Joya Art and Ecologica Spain. It formed part of the Exhibition ‘Memory and Loss’ at The Art Centre Newtonards Northern Ireland.
